Brief description

Ruins of a Gothic castle which was built in the second half of the 13th century to protect access ways to the Central Slovak mining towns. A new defensive line was added in 1559 with modern defence elements (a bastion and two corner bulwarks). Taken in 1575 and occupied by Turks until 1593. The last owner, Imrich Balassa, used Divín as a stronghold of robber barons. Taken and destroyed by Imperial armies in 1683.

By public transport: By train to Mýtna, then by bus to Divín
By car: By the road No. 50. Between Zvolen and Lučenec, in Mýtna turn to Divín.
