Brief description

The castle is first mentioned in 1240. In the 16th century a new part of the castle was built. It was damaged during WW2. Reconstruction started in 1947.

Personal transport:It is possible to drive right up to the castle estate, where there is a large guarded car-park, with room also for coaches.

The Červený Kameň Museum is a specialised museum documenting the development of residences of the aristocracy and the urban classes in Slovakia, emphasising the art-history character of the objects and history of the Červený Kameň Castle. In the framework of this specialisation it acquires, preserves, professionally processes, uses and makes available museological records of the development of the residences of the aristocracy from the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th century and the development of military technology at Slovak castles. A rich and very valuable collection, linked to the museum’s profile, is presented in particular at permanent expositions and occasional exhibitions. The museum’s seat is the national cultural monument the Červený Kameň Castle, which through its advantageous position and unique collections is among the most visited castles in Slovakia.
